Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is an inexpensive and non-invasive method of cosmetic dentistry. In this treatment, chemical whiteners are used to lift and remove stains from your smile, restoring the original bright color of your teeth.

At our office, we offer both take-home and in-office whitening. In-office whitening is done by Dr. Singh or Dr. Sulaiman at our office. This treatment uses powerful whiteners and UV light to provide you with a brighter smile in just a single appointment, so it’s great if you want fast results.

Take-home whitening is a bit different. In this process, we’ll build a set of custom whitening trays, then Dr. Singh or Dr. Sulaiman will provide you with at-home whitening products to use. You can whiten your smile professionally over a period of a few weeks in the comfort of your own home.

Veneers

Veneers are a highly versatile method of smile restoration. With veneers, you can correct issues ranging from stained teeth to gaps in your smile, slightly crooked teeth, uneven teeth, and more. These thin tooth “shells” are made from porcelain, and are designed to cover up the front surfaces of your teeth.

By completely covering up your teeth, veneers can completely transform your smile. The placement process is minimally-invasive, and it only takes 2 appointments over a span of about 2-3 weeks to restore your smile with veneers at Smile Society General Dentistry.

White Spot Removal

If you are self-conscious about your smile because of white spots on your teeth, you’re not alone. White spots on the teeth can build up because of the use of too much fluoride on your teeth (over-fluoridation), or due to genetic issues.

More commonly, though, these white spots appear when oral bacteria weaken the teeth. People with braces, for example, often have white spots on their teeth because they can’t clean under their brackets.

Using enamel microabrasion, Dr. Sulaiman or Dr. Singh can gently buff away and remove these spots. This is usually followed with a fluoride treatment to strengthen your teeth, or teeth whitening to bleach your teeth and create a more even, pleasing appearance.

Composite Fillings & Tooth-Colored Crowns

Fillings and crowns are restorative treatments used to treat cavities and damaged teeth. However, they do have cosmetic benefits at Smile Society General Dentistry.

This is because Dr. Sulaiman and Dr. Singh exclusively use composite, tooth-colored fillings, as well as tooth-colored porcelain crowns. These restorations will look and feel just like a natural part of your tooth’s structure. Can I Get Only One Cosmetic Treatment at a Time?

You can get more than one cosmetic treatment at the same appointment. We often refer to this as a smile makeover. A smile a makeover is when a combination of cosmetic treatments is needed to achieve the patient’s desired smile outcome. 

Perhaps there are multiple issues with the appearance or structure of the teeth or maybe you need to receive fillings before you can proceed with the cosmetic treatments you want. All of our cosmetic treatments can be completed in one appointment and depending on how much work needs to be done and how much time you have, we can address multiple issues in one appointment.

Am I A Good Candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry?

Before we can determine if we can address your dental imperfections, we need to assess your oral health. Any presence of tooth decay or gum disease will rule you out as a candidate for cosmetic dentistry until you get these problems treated. 

It is also important to be in good overall health, avoid smoking, and be aware of the cosmetic treatment you are looking to get done. You should know about the potential long-term effects it could have on your teeth, if it is reversible or not, and any side effects that could occur. 

You may also be ruled out as a candidate if you have severe orthodontic problems or damaged teeth. Cosmetic treatments may not be able to fix these issues in the way you hope and it may be better to first undergo restorative or orthodontic treatment.

A good candidate for cosmetic dentistry meets the above requirements and would like to fix the following problems with their teeth:

How Do I Know Which Treatment Is Right for Me?

If you’re looking to whiten discolored or stained teeth, we have a variety of cosmetic dental treatments that can achieve a pearly white smile. These include teeth whitening, dental bonding, and veneers. The most affordable, effective, and time-sensitive method of achieving a whiter smile is to get your teeth professionally whitened.

However, if you have one specific tooth that is severely discolored, dental bonding would be a better choice. Dental bonding is also useful for repairing minor chips and cracks and altering the shape or size of the teeth. Veneers can also alter the appearance of the teeth but instead of structurally changing the teeth themselves, we place porcelain shells on top of them to cover them up. While veneers can achieve a beautiful seamless smile, they are more expensive than dental bonding. 

White spot removal can be used to remove the appearance of white spots that have built up on the teeth due to bacteria. If your discoloration is white rather than darkened, this would be the best treatment for you.

Finally, composite fillings and tooth-colored crowns are used to fill cavities and protect damaged teeth while creating the appearance of a natural tooth. While we can repair a chipped or cracked tooth with dental bonding, a dental crown is preferable for large teeth that undergo a significant amount of force such as the rear molars.
